Day wise itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Srinagar
Welcome to summer capital of Kashmir. The pleasure of an experience on a houseboat is as if nature has embraced you and you are completely absorbed in its sheer beauty. On reaching in Srinagar transfer to Houseboat. In the evening enjoy Shikara ride on Dal Lake. Overnight stay.
Day 2 Srinagar – Sonmarg – Kargil
Today leave early in the morning and drive to Kargil. Road passes through the panoramic village Sonmarg (2740 Mtrs). After Sonmarg most rough road to Zojila pass 3527 Mtrs (Gateway of Ladakh). Continue drive towards Drass (The coldest inhibited place in the world) we stop here for tea and passport check. Another two and half hours drive will take us to Kargil (2710 Mtrs) which has got its importance after opening of Ladakh for tourists in 1974. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 3 Kargil – Leh
Drive to Leh. We have to ascend three passes. This day will be tiresome but panoramic too. First Buddhist village will be Mulbek. By afternoon we will be at Lamayuru oldest Monastery. Continue drive to next village Nimu a view of Zanskar River following into Indus. Finally we reach Leh 3500 Mtrs. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 4 Leh – Monasteries – Leh
Today day excursion to the famous monasteries. It is interesting to visit early in the morning to enjoy the praying ceremony at Thiksey monastery. Continue drive to Hemis monastery which is one of the most famous monasteries of the Ladakh region. On the way back visit to Shey Palace. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 5 Leh – Khardongla Pass – Leh
Day excursion to Khardongla pass, it is suppose to be world’s highest motorable road and has been recorded in the Gunnies Book of World Records. At the top enjoy the nature beauty of snow capped mountains. In the late afternoon return back to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 6 Leh – Pangong Lake – Leh
Leave early morning at 5AM to famous Pangong Lake through Changla pass. While ascending Changla pass (5486 Mtrs.) enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the villages below the pass. Arrive Durbuk and from there a short drive takes you to the western shore of the lake. Enjoy the landscape in the back drop of the Lake. This famous blue brackish Lake of Pangong is 5/6 Kms wide and over 144 Kms long with half of it’s running the other side of the “INDO CHINA BORDER”. One rarely feels so close to nature and environment and the scenery is unforgettable. In the late afternoon drive back to Leh. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 7 Leh Departure
Drop at Leh Airport. Vacation comes to an end with good memories that will last forever.
